A new release version of the PrePoMax contains the following features:
Scripting and automation
- Complete Python support: script execution and converting the command history to a Python script
- Python API help
- Recording a Python script in the command history
- MCP server support, so AI assistants can drive a PrePoMax session
Geometry
- Splitting solid geometry into cells (Split Solid), grouping cells (Group Cells) and fusing them (Fuse Bodies)
- Splitting shell geometry and faces of solids (Split Face)
- Splitting periodic faces on request (Split Periodic Faces); imports no longer split them automatically
- Fusing CAD part faces that lie on one surface (Fuse Faces)
- Repairing CAD parts (sew, fix shape, remove small faces and edges, fuse faces, join edges)
- Model tree icons for CAD parts with small features
- Offsetting the surfaces of a CAD part (Offset Face)
- Improved compound part rendering (an edge on the interface between two sub parts is drawn once)
- Mass computation for parts and the assembly (Query)
- OpenCascade 8.0.1 for visualization and the Netgen mesher
Meshing
- Automatic mesh type detection: every part is meshed with the most structured mesh its geometry supports (transfinite, sweep, revolve or tetrahedral)
- Displaying mesh types by color annotation, with the reason in the Output window why a part cannot be swept
- Automatic sweep meshing of single and multiple parts; one Sweep Mesh item replaces the Extrude and Revolve items
- Sweep meshing with split source faces
- QuadWild quad mesher
- Parallel meshing in Netgen (surfaces and subdomains)
- Netgen shell meshing of STL parts; the Mmg mesher has its own Shell Mmg mesh setup item
- Mesh grading in Gmsh
- Local mesh sizes that conflict with other settings stop the meshing instead of being changed silently
- Exporting mesh parts (File → Export → Mesh)
Model
- Material based on engineering constants (lamina)
- Joints based on rigid body/spring connections
- Contact pair grouping by graph
- Parameter descriptions and reordering of parameters in the parameter editor
Analysis and results
- Axisymmetric models report all results for 360°
- Binary .frd files (Settings → Solver → CalculiX)
- Improved result part mapping (part by part, input decks with additional elements)
- History output from a user-defined table, merged outputs, an entry and XY data
- Duplicating field and history outputs
- Kinetic energy read from the .dat file and energy plots in the Progress tab for dynamic steps
- Element-wise cross-sections in the Model and Results tabs
User interface
- Capturing an image of the viewport
- Coordinate system widget
- Solid cross-sections in the Geometry tab drawn with hatched lines
- New default exploded view based on geometry relations
- Saving and restoring the side panel state
- Initial plot side panel (testing)
- Zoom smoothing
- Trackpad rotate, zoom and pan
- Color palettes in the default colors
- A Show all properties: Yes/No setting
- Pruning of history commands that are not regenerated
